Graphic / Motion Designer role at HEIST

UPDATE: As of December 20, 2021, this position has now been filled…
HEIST is hiring for a motion-graphic/visual designer role right now, and we’d love your help finding a super-talented individual with good vibes and great taste to join our team. Maybe you are that person, or maybe you know that person — either way, read on for all the details…
ABOUT HEIST
HEIST is an Oakland-based creative studio. We help brands strategize, ideate and produce powerful visual campaigns and stories. Our work runs the gamut — everything from 30-second broadcast spots to glossy animations to long-form documentaries and pro bono side projects.
All our work is visual, and many of our projects have a motion-graphic component to them — which is where you come in!
THE JOB
This is an opportunity for an experienced visual and motion designer to work on a broad range of projects, alongside a bunch of other great folks. Because we are a hybrid studio conceiving and producing work, you’ll be in the mix from the get-go, helping us not only execute but also develop creative campaigns. Here’s what you’ll be doing…
- Design and animate graphics for a range of commercial and non-commercial projects
- Design static assets for OOH and digital campaigns
- Participate in ideation sessions, helping to conceive and then further develop creative concepts for presentation to clients
- Design visual assets for creative presentations
- Design decks, flyers, posters, infographics, invitations, signage, art, etc, in support of ongoing marketing and sales efforts at HEIST.
- Help the team identify and develop new storytelling or branding opportunities and techniques
Those are the core responsibilities, but we’re a small team — which means there’s also ample opportunity for people to be involved in many other aspects of creative development and production, including:
- Color correction
- Editorial work
- Visual effects
- Sound design
- On-set film production
- Photography
- Social strategy
- Story development for longform and serialized documentary and scripted projects
AND THEN THERE’S YOU…
- You have 2-5 years of design/motion experience working either freelance or on staff as part of a larger creative team
- You’re passionate about design, motion and storytelling
- You think about and understand brand systems and identity
- You have a good eye for imagery, typography and motion
- You are attentive to detail and nuance
- You’re organized and reliable
- You enjoy collaboration
- You ask questions when you don’t have all the answers
- You think proactively about the needs of others and their experiences
- You want feedback
- You welcome new challenges
- You enjoy variety
- You love to learn
- You have experience with the entire Adobe software suite
- You’ve got a music playlist or two that you’d be willing to add to our office rotation since we’re getting pretty sick of ours.
COMPENSATION
The base salary for this position is competitive, and it comes with a generous benefits package:
- Health, dental, vision and life insurance
- 401k with employer matching contributions up to 4% of salary
- 3 weeks paid vacation the first year, with an increasing number of days in each subsequent year
- 10-12 paid federal holidays each year
- $2500 creative stipend for use on personal projects or for education
- Annual bonuses based on individual and company performance
