HEIST is hiring a Junior Editor!
Are you an aspiring editor with big dreams and the talent to get you there? Do you like being in the whirlwind and juggling multiple commercial and/or feature projects simultaneously? Is storytelling — be it short-form or long-form — your jam? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
HEIST is currently hiring a junior editor to help us tackle both commercial and feature-length documentary projects.

The successful candidate will have prior experience as an assistant editor working in professional production/post-production environments and already be familiar with a range of digital cinema workflows, including media management and preparing projects for final finishing. Bonus points if you’ve got graphic design skills, AfterEffects proficiency or know your way around Resolve as well.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Capturing and digitizing footage
- Content organization and storage backup/retrieval
- Pulling selects and preparing assemblies
- Assistant editor support to contract editors
- Editorial on certain projects
- Prep for finishing sessions (Audio, VFX and Color)
- Video rendering, exporting, compression and uploading
- Maintenance of all edit bay systems and server
- Assisting as DIT on location
- Making small adjustments to existing motion-graphic files
While the Junior Editor’s core responsibility is editorial support, this position does at times include the opportunity to edit projects. Thus, the job title of Junior Editor. The role has also always been a springboard to greater responsibilities here at HEIST, and we welcome ambitious, talented storytellers who are looking to grow as artists, editors and filmmakers. In other words, the more you bring to the table, the more opportunities await.
This is a full-time, salaried position with a generous benefits package, including 3 weeks of paid vacation + additional paid holidays, 401k with employer matching contributions, health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as a $2500 no-strings-attached stipend for independent film projects and continued education.
